[SfK] "Logan"
Here is a tribute to "Logan" as a story for kids! I used pictures from the movie because I can't draw! This is the first time I make this kind of content, I hope you will enjoy it.
Logan lived with Caliban, a pale mutant and Charles, his old teacher. He worked as a driver and dreamed of buying a boat and leaving everything!
Charles was not feeling well, he stayed inside all day, talking to someone who was not there. The holes of the building, as tiny shining stars, were remembering him how he used to see friends everywhere, when there were still mutants.
One day, a woman named Gabriela came to him, she called him Wolverine and asked for help, but he declined. He could not be this man anymore.
But Gabriela really wanted to go to North Dakota with her daughter Laura, so she asked Logan again in her motel room. There was X-Men comic-books everywhere and it made Logan nostalgic... This time, he said yes!
When he came back to them, Gabriela was gone. But Laura saved Logan from a bad guy called Agent Pierce, she looked like him with her claws, and she screamed a lot too. With Charles, they ran away, damaging the car, while the poor Caliban remained a prisoner...
Thanks to Gabriela's phone, they learned that Agent Pierce worked for doctor Rice, a man who made young mutants. Laura was born with Logan's genes! The children were not happy, so the nurses decided to rescue them and bring them to Eden, a safe place. Doctor Rice was working on another mutant he could easily manipulate, still with Logan as model: X-24.
Logan tried to prevent Laura of misbehaving, although he was not a very good example! They went to a hotel to rest and change their clothes. While Logan got to buy a new car, the child watched a western movie with Charles, it was so good!
Logan read the little girl's comic-books, his life was not as imagined by the authors... On a page, he saw a mention of a place called Eden, was the safe place a lie?!
Charles simply said that if it was real for Laura, it was the only thing that mattered.
The bad guys had found them, but Charles used his powers and it was as if time had stopped! Feeling dizzy, Agent Pierce could only watch Logan, Charles and Laura escaped once more.
On the freeway, they met a family in trouble, Charles used his mind to calm down their horses. To thank them, the Munson Family invited them to dine. They introduced themselves as the Howlett family, Logan's last name.
The Munsons cheered them up! Laura smiled for the first time and ate so much and even listened to music, Charles remembered how he was a teacher long ago, surrounded by smiling kids. They planned to leave at dawn after a good sleep, they needed to have a normal, warm, family night Charles said.
Later, when Charles thought he was talking to Logan, telling him how guilty he felt for this beautiful time, he did not know that he was talking to X-24! The clone did not answer and put his hand on Charles chest. Sadly, it was too late for Charles, he let out his claws and then took Laura. The old teacher closed his eyes when Logan came to him after crossing his younger image. Lastly, he thought of a boat.
Caliban saw Logan trying to confront X-24, he had to help, his friend was too old and sick! He was forced to lead the bad guys here, menaced by the sunlight, now he was about to show them how the sun shined and he grabbed two grenades. Thanks to him, Logan and Laura fled through the fields, damaging the new car.
Logan was really sad, so Laura took his hand. He was feeling exhausted and fell next to the broken car.
He awoke in a small medical office, the doctor told him to be careful: he was old and sick. He knew this already.
Laura talked for the first time, in Spanish! Hopefully, she knew a bit of English too. She wanted to find her friends in Eden, and even if Logan did not believe in it, he accepted to go with her a little further.
While he was taking a nap, Laura took care of him and she eventually drove by herself until Eden in a new vehicle. What a girl!
The children healed his wounds, but he still needed some rest. The kids were laughing, playing, cutting his beard in his sleep!
Laura was very worried about him, she wanted him to be fine, Charles asked her to watch for this, but she was helpless...
The day of the departure was approaching, Laura failed to find the right words and remained silent, fearing the moment where Logan would leave her alone, hoping in vain for him to say anything.
One morning, he was alone except for the noise of drones following the children's tracks! Logan had to do something! He ran, and ran, and ran as fast as he could, as brave as he was, but he was still old and sick... He had to continue!
Logan saved Laura and the kids from doctor Rice, the kids saved themselves from agent Pierce and Laura saved him from X-24! Without Charles, his past friends and Laura, he could have ended up like X-24. Together, they were stronger. But his eyes were closing. The little girl was crying for her father. Logan knew she was safe now, she could become everything she wanted. He was so relief. She was his daughter!
He closed his eyes when he understood what Charles once said.
Laura spoke for him, and for her, she quoted a western she saw long ago. Logan saved them, thanks to him, they could be kids again and be safe. One of them had an action figure of Wolverine tight in his hands. He was a hero, he was a father. She took the cross and rotated it. He was so much more.
He always was an X-Men.

I really liked to work on this project, it was a tough challenge to adapt the story. For this first attempt, I chose to make a story for 10 years old children, I wish that I succeed. I can't wait to write an other story in a new genre and a different style!
The next one will be really cool!
